July, 11, 2016 – Shellon In is a new and original version of the Shellon bed, featuring a soft sinuous headboard upholstered with a removable cover boasting irregular vertically quilted pleats. The 2016 novelty is the floor-standing bed frame which can also hold a convenient storage compartment with a manual opening mechanism. Shellon In stands on black polypropylene feet and the structure is metal and wood upholstered in totally removable fabric and leather covers.
Setsu & Shinobu Ito
Setsu & Shinobu Ito are two Japanese designers with vast experience in the fields of architecture, interior design, product design, industrial design and packaging.
Setsu Ito, a graduate from the Japanese University of Tsukuba, began work with Alessandro Mendini, leader of avant garde design in Italy, in the Studio Alchimia, and then with a master of modern architecture and design, Angelo Mangiarotti.
Shinobu Ito, a graduate from the Tokyo Tama Art University, started her career with CBS Sony (Sony Music Entertainment) and Sony Creative Products and attained a Master Degree at the Domus Academy in Milan.
They opened their design studio in 1997 and since then have worked as consultants for international clients, dealing with a wide range of activities in the fields of architecture, interior design, industrial, craft and packaging design.
They have received a number of design awards, such as, for example: The Young & Design Award 1999 (Italy), "The Good Design Award 2001" (Japan), "La Toyama Product Design Award 2001" (Japan), and were selected for the "ADI Design Index 2001, 2005" (Italy) and Compasso d'Oro 2011" (Italy). Some of their projects have become permanent collections in the Milan "Triennale Design Museum" and "Die Sammlung Neun International Design Museum" in Munich.
Their works have been published in design books and magazines throughout the world: "Setsu & Shinobu Ito_East-West Designers", a biography (Italy 2008), International Design Year Book (Sterling 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2004, 2007), The Eco-Design Handbook (Sterling 2002), New Furniture Design (2005 in the USA, UK and Germany), 1000 New Designs (Sterling 2006), European Design Since 1985 (2009), Plastic (Spain 2007), Process (Cover of British edition 2009), Wallpaper magazine cover (Italy November 2006) and the cover of Elle Decor (Italy April 2010, celebrating 20 years in the trade). Both of them are invited to lecture by the most important design schools, such as the Milan Domus Academy, Milan Polytechnic, IUAV University, Venice, IED Istituto Europeo di Design, Milan, and the Japanese University of Tsukuba. Their reputation as teachers was acknowledged by the "Premio R. Bonetto of 2002" (Italy). Setsu Ito is a member of the jury for the “IF Design Award 2015” in Germany. In 2008 a biography was published, entitled “Setsu & Shinobu Ito_East-West Designers” (Logos Italy 2008).
